A man faces murder and gun charges in connection with a fatal early-morning Edgewater shooting earlier this week, police announced Saturday.
Ammar Houssamo, 53, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, police announced. He was arrested in Evanston shortly after shots rang out in the 1400 block of West Thome around 7:20 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Houssamo, of Rogers Park, allegedly shot a man who was walking his dog before turning the gun on himself, according to Chicago police. The man was pronounced dead at Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.
Houssamo was taken to the same hospital, where he was in critical condition and arrested by Chicago police later Thursday.
