Il Posto has posted notice of its upcoming closure. The Italian restaurant, at 2601 Larimer St. in the River North Art District, will serve its last plate of fresh pasta on Saturday, Feb. 24.
“It is with a heavy heart, and a very full stomach, that we announce the closure of one of Denver’s top Italian restaurants, Il Posto,” the restaurant wrote in a statement.
“The restaurant sends a big ‘GRAZIE!’ to the Denver community for all of the support and meals shared at Il Posto over the years. Ownership is currently conceptualizing a new life for the space with hopes of an announcement later this spring.”

Chef Andrea Frizzi originally opened Il Posto in Uptown in 2007 before moving it to its RiNo spot in 2017. Il Posto’s sleek and minimalist space boasted traditional Italian comfort food, like branzino, seasonal risotto, or a cannoli cake for dessert.
Frizzi has departed his first passion project, according to a statement, to focus on his Denver Central Market concepts down the street: Vero, where you can still get a bite of Frizzi’s Neapolitan-style pizzas and hand-made pasta, and Tammen’s Fish Market, a full-service seafood counter.
