Rich Eisen Makes Declaration About Steelers and Aaron Rodgers

The NFL Draft is just a couple of days away from kicking off in Pittsburgh, which is fitting because the Pittsburgh Steelers might very well be the most interesting team heading into it. Perhaps the biggest reason for that is that the team doesn’t have an official answer at quarterback, and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers remains unsigned.

After Steelers GM Omar Khan spoke about the good communication between the organization and Rodgers on Monday, host Rich Eisen made his prediction on whether or not the four-time MVP is returning to the Steel City for at least one more run.

Rich Eisen Believes Aaron Rodgers Will Return to the Steelers

Here is what Eisen said on Monday via The Rich Eisen Show about his own thoughts regarding what Rodgers will decide to do in the coming days:

“No one wants to get in his head. It is whatever he wants it to be. For whatever reason, he doesn’t want to announce it yet. I think he’s going to play again. I don’t think he wants to end his career the way it ended last year. That’s not the last word he wants to have. I think it’s a blessing that the new coach there is a guy he knows.”

As NFL fans should know, Rodgers greatly values his privacy. He may get some flak for participating in darkness retreats and ayahuasca ceremonies, but he is his own person, and after 21 years in the NFL, he deserves a little bit of time to make this type of decision on his future. Furthermore, He also doesn’t owe the media anything. He will reveal his answer on the future when the time is right.

Regarding what Eisen said, he could very well be right. Perhaps the Steelers and Rodgers already have a plan in place. Perhaps everyone in the building knows that he is coming back. It just hasn’t been announced yet.

Aaron Rodgers Is the Only Right Option for the Steelers

No quarterback prospect in this draft is going to overtake Rodgers due to his abilities and next-level knowledge of the game. In fact, it doesn’t even appear likely that a quarterback on the Steelers’ roster could overtake Rodgers. Last season, the Super Bowl MVP recorded 25 total touchdowns and posted a modest passer rating of 94.8 en route to guiding the franchise to its first division title in five years.

Furthermore, Rodgers and new head coach Mike McCarthy go back a long, long time. Since McCarthy was hired back in 2006 by the Green Bay Packers to be a head coach for the first time, he and Rodgers have been close. In the 11 years between the time Rodgers was named the starter in Green Bay (2008) and when McCarthy was let go (2018), the Packers went to the playoffs eight times, won five NFC North titles, made three NFC Championship Game appearances, and won a Super Bowl. Rodgers also won two of his four career MVPs with McCarthy.
