Restaurant customer robbed by gunman in Uptown

A restaurant customer was robbed while eating early Wednesday in Uptown.

A 30-year-old man was eating at a restaurant in the 1400 block of West Montrose Avenue about 12:20 a.m. when a gunman approached and demanded his property, Chicago police said.

After getting the man’s belongings, the gunman tried taking money from the restaurant’s cash register but was unsuccessful, police said.

No one was injured, and no one was in custody.
