Recently Released New York Mets Pitcher Signs With AL Team

The New York Mets released pitcher Luis Garcia last week after he had a tough start to the 2026 season. Now, he has already found his next home after spending just a few days on the free-agent market.

According to Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Minnesota Twins have signed Garcia to a minor-league contract. In addition, Garcia will be reporting to Triple-A St. Paul.

Garcia appeared in six games this season with the Mets before his release, where he had a 0-0 record, a 7.11 ERA, and four strikeouts. This is after he had a 2-0 record and a 4.10 ERA in 28 games this past season split between the Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals, and Los Angeles Angels.

Garcia will now provide the Twins with another veteran reliever for their pitching depth. In 609 career games over 14 major league seasons, the 6-foot-2 righty has a 28-30 record and a 4.11 ERA.
