The toughest decision for any player who gets a big payday is what to do with a new contract extension. Just ask Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers.
Flowers and the Ravens agreed on a four-year, $140 million contract extension, with $108 million guaranteed. While it took a bit for the Ravens to get the deal done, Flowers is locked in for six more seasons with the team.
The two-time Pro Bowler now has financial security and a lot more pressure to deliver on the money. Until the regular season starts, though, the biggest question for him is what he will do with the money.

Flowers appeared on “Chris Simms’ Unbuttoned” show, where the former NFL quarterback asked the receiver what he would do with the money. While no clear answer was given, Flowers is going to play things a little more conservatively.
“I’ma do something after the Super Bowl. I’ma wait til we play in the Super Bowl and then I’ll take care of myself. … If we win the Super Bowl, I might take the whole offense on a trip or something. I don’t know yet.”
Flowers has more than earned his new contract, posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons within three years. In 2025, he caught 86 passes for 1,211 yards and 5 touchdowns, all career-highs.

The Ravens’ passing game is going to flow through Flowers from this point on. Once a player gets paid $35 million per year, it completely changes everything for them.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson loves getting the ball to Flowers anyway. The two have built quite the chemistry together that Jackson has never really had with another receiver.
Baltimore has other weapons on offense, though, that Jackson will be able to lean on. The Ravens can throw it to Mark Andrews, Rashod Bateman, and training camp standout Ja’Kobi Lane.
No matter what, though, Flowers will be the first target in the passing game. He can use his speed to pick up extra yards and make guys miss. His route running makes him difficult to cover for cornerbacks.
The expectations for 2026 are that Flowers is going to break every Ravens receiving record. There will be more pressure on the fourth-year receiver to earn every dollar of his $35 million-per-year deal.
Flowers has not shown any reason over the last three years to believe that he can’t do it. With a little more financial incentive, there’s a good chance he is about to go off in 2026.
