Ravens Sign Former 4th Round Pick to Boost Secondary

The Baltimore Ravens added much-needed depth to their secondary on Monday by signing veteran safety K’Von Wallace.

“Ravens signed veteran safety K’Von Wallace, who played for Texans last season,” NFL reporter Aaron Wilson wrote on his official X account.

Wallace, 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, was a 4th-round pick (No. 107 overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2020 NFL draft.

The Ravens already have 1 of the NFL’s most talented groups of safeties with NFL All-Pro Kyle Hamilton, 2025 1st round pick Malaki Starks, and free-agent signee Jaylinn Hawkins.

“Baltimore may deploy three safeties frequently under Head Coach Jesse Minter, with Kyle Hamilton, Malaki Starks, and Jaylinn Hawkins leading that group,” Ravens senior writer Clifton Brown wrote. “Wallace will likely compete with second-year player Keondre Jackson and others for the No. 4 safety role. The Ravens didn’t use any of their 11 draft picks on a safety.”

Wallace has been well-traveled over his 1st 6 seasons. After playing 3 seasons with the Eagles, he’s also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, and Texans.

Wallace Helped Lead Clemson to National Title

Wallace was part of Clemson’s College Football Playoff national championship team in 2018 and earned All-ACC honors in 2019. NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein projected Wallace as a 5th-round pick after he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.

“While he played some safety and a lot of big nickel in 2019, his biggest impact came when cutting it loose as a downhill blitzer, disrupting the run and smashing quarterbacks,” Zierlein wrote. “Wallace plays with exceptional grit and tenacity. He unloads with everything he’s got on hit after hit. His hips may be too tight to hold up in man coverage and he lacks range as a high safety. He’s a potential backup safety capable of playing near the line and helping on special teams.”

As a pro, Wallace played in a Super Bowl with the Eagles following the 2022 season but is perhaps best known for being ejected from the NFC Championship Game for fighting with 6-foot-5, 320-pound NFL All-Pro offensive tackle Trent Williamswhich went about how you think it would.

Ravens Have NFL’s Elite Safety in Kyle Hamilton

The Ravens adding depth at safety is great, but the key to how everything works on defense is Hamilton.

Perhaps the best pound-for-pound defensive player in the NFL, Hamilton signed a 4-year, $100.4 million contract extension with the Ravens in August 2025 that made him the highest-paid player at his position in NFL history.

“All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton and the Baltimore Ravens reached agreement today on a four-year, $100.4 million extension, the largest for a safety in NFL history,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on his official X account on August 27. “The deal … includes $82 million guaranteed — which surpasses the previous record of $45M for a Safety.”

Hamilton was a 1st-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft and is a 3-time NFL All-Pro and 3-time Pro Bowler through his 1st 4 seasons. At Notre Dame, he was a 3-time All-American in 3 seasons before leaving school early to enter the NFL draft.

“All-around best player in the NFL: Size instincts, production, blitz ability,” one NFL personnel director told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler about Hamilton.
