Randy Orton Reveals Surprising Dream Match Opponent

Wrestling icon Randy Orton is three days shy of the 24-year anniversary of his WWE debut in 2002.

Having dominated WWE long enough to evolve from The Legend Killer into a legend himself, Randy Orton has begun to reflect on his storied career.

The Viper has been vocal about his desire for a 15th World Championship reign and recently revealed his dream opponent before he retires.

During an interview with The Schmo at WrestleMania 42, Orton revealed that he desires a singles match with Bullet Club founder Finn Balor.

Orton noted that “nobody is smoother” than Balor, who revived his demon mantra in the Street Fight against Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 42.

Balor is a two-time NXT champion and was the inaugural Universal Champion in 2016. Like Orton, Balor is a veteran technician with a deep arsenal of in-ring weaponry at his disposal.

Despite being on the active roster together for a decade, Orton and Balor have never had a singles match. The two have wrestled in a multi-fighter format, but never in a one-on-one encounter.

Orton and Balor Would Be a Classic Brawl

A match between WWE Superstars Randy Orton and Finn Balor looks good on paper.

Not only would it be a clash of former World Champions, but it would also be a battle between two of the most demented fighters on the roster.

Before his WrestleMania 42 main event match, Orton told the WWE Universe that he had begun hearing the infamous voices in his head. Hungry for his 15th World Championship reign, Orton has resorted to wicked means to achieve it.

When Orton is on a warpath, nobody is safe, as evidenced by his post-match assault on Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42.

Bullet Club member Finn Balor is also known to have a sinister side. His alter ego, Demon Balor, is among the most feared, talented fighters on the roster.

Should the WWE Superstars finally have a singles match, it would be interesting to see who would survive the carnage.

Will Orton’s Current Contract Be His Last?

Orton has been amongst WWE’s biggest stars since making his debut 24 years ago.

Although fans would love for The Legend Killer to doll out RKO punishment for an eternity, Orton will realistically retire his boots at some point.

Orton is the last active superstar from the famous OVW class of 2002 that included John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and Batista. For the gamers out there, Orton and Rey Mysterio are the only remaining stars who appeared in SmackDown vs. Raw 2007.

Last year, Orton competed in his 20th WrestleMania match.

As a competitor, Orton has hardly lost a step. There has been no noticeable drop-off in his performance or athleticism.

Still, with so many of his peers enjoying the fruits of retirement, it wouldn’t be a shock if Orton does the same when his contract expires.

Orton, 46, has four years remaining on his WWE contract.
