The Los Angeles Rams made an aggressive move last offseason in NFL free agency to sign superstar wide receiver Davante Adams to a two-year, $44 million contract.
Adams was expected to be the final piece of the puzzle for the Rams’ offense. Pairing him with Puka Nacua formed arguably the NFL’s best wide receiver duo.
Matthew Stafford enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career. He won the MVP award after throwing for 4,707 yards, 46 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions, while completing 65 percent of his pass attempts.
In his first season with Los Angeles, Adams racked up 60 catches for 789 yards and 14 touchdowns.
With that being said, there have been rumors that the Rams are open to the idea of trading Adams this offseason. At 33 years old, it’s possible that Los Angeles would prefer to bring in a younger wideout moving forward.
Los Angeles Rams Linked to Davante Adams Trade With AFC Contender
Austen Bundy of FanSided has suggested a few potential trade destinations for Adams. He thinks that the Pittsburgh Steelers could make sense, which would see Adams reunite with Aaron Rodgers once again should the future Hall of Fame quarterback return.
Granted, Pittsburgh has already made a wide receiver trade this offseason. Michael Pittman Jr. was acquired in a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.
That being said, forming a wide receiver trio of DK Metcalf, Pittman, and Adams would be elite. Rodgers would almost certainly be unable to resist coming back to work with that group of talent. Adams is also a close friend of Rodgers.
Why the Rams Should & Shouldn’t Trade Davante Adams
Moving on from Adams would be a difficult decision to make. He is still a legitimate superstar at the wide receiver position.
While the move would be tough to pull the trigger on, Adams is 33 years old. He isn’t getting any younger and he has dealt with some injury issues in recent years. Last season with the Rams, he dealt with hamstring problems late in the year.
If Los Angeles could move Adams for a solid return and bring in a young wideout like Jordyn Tyson or Makai Lemon in the 2026 NFL Draft, that would make sense.
There have also been rumblings about the Rams potentially being a trade suitor for Philadelphia Eagles star wideout A.J. Brown. Parting ways with Adams to acquire Brown could also be a move that upgrades Los Angeles long-term.
Expect to continue hearing rumors and speculation about Adams as the 2026 NFL Draft approaches. The Rams could very well choose to stand pat and keep him, but for now he remains a sleeper trade candidate.
