The Las Vegas Raiders have a busy offseason ahead of them, and a lot of key positions that need to be filled.
Two of those spots include at head coach, where, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders are expected to hire Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. The other spot at quarterback will presumably be Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who the Raiders will likely draft with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Now, running back and 2025 first-round pick Ashton Jeanty is the first of what will be many players who have shared his thoughts on both Kubiak and Mendoza.
Ashton Jeanty Comments on Klint Kubiak
GettyOffensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak of the Seattle Seahawks speaks to the media ahead of Super Bowl LX.
In an appearance with CBS Sports, Jeanty was asked what his expectations are for Kubiak in his first year as the Raiders’ head coach.
“Yeah I mean he’s, he’s hot right now. Obviously, what he’s been doing with the Seahawks’ offense has been special in a way he’s getting the backs involved. Obviously Jaxon Smith-Njigba having a career year. So I think it’s a great hire and I’m super excited.”
Kubiak masterfully brought out the best in both running back Zach Charbonnet, who led the team with 12 regular-season rushing touchdowns, and Kenneth Walker, who was 3rd in postseason rushing yards (178).
“Because if you drop back 50 times in the game, it’s tough,” Kubiak said regarding the offense. “You’ve have got to be a balanced team. I think balance is important and sometimes you’ve got to drop back 50 times to win the game and sometimes you’ve got to run it 50 times. But when it all comes through, we want to be balanced, and we want to be able to win multiple ways.”
Jeanty, who had just 3.7 rush yards per attempt on 266 carries as a rookie, has the confidence that his new coach will help him bump up those numbers.
Jeanty on Fernando Mendoza: “His Character Can Fit Into Any Locker Room”

Jeanty was then asked about his thoughts on Mendoza coming in as the Raiders’ likely starting quarterback and how he’ll fit into the locker room.
“I think his character can fit into any locker room. Just by what I’ve seen, he’s a great guy. He’s humble. Obviously he’s hardworking. He’s worked his way up to where he’s at now. Nobody knew his name a couple of years ago and now he’s one of the top prospects. The hard work, the dedication, the discipline, the focus is definitely there.”
Mendoza also commented on his thoughts on the Raiders during an appearance on the Today Show, saying, “The Raiders have a great culture, have a great coaching staff, great ownership group. It’s all around. Those are legit guys. I’d be happy to end anywhere.”
The Raiders are building something special. Bringing in Jeanty last season. Now, likely bringing in Kubiak at head coach and Mendoza to lead the team, there’s a lot to be excited about.
