The Seattle Seahawks were linked to blockbuster NFL trade rumors for Maxx Crosby, but the price proved to be too steep for the Super Bowl champions. Could the Seahawks kick the tires on another superstar pass rusher?
Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport outlined several potential landing spots for Cleveland Browns defender Myles Garrett, including the Seahawks. Fresh off the second Defensive Player of the Year honor of his career, trading for Garrett would come with a high price.
The NFL trade pitch has the Seahawks trading the No. 32 pick in the 2026 NFL draft, a 2027 first rounder and a 2027 third-round selection in exchange for Garrett. Seattle’s previous history of giving up multiple high draft picks for veteran players has not exactly aged particularly well (see Percy Harvin and Jamal Adams).
Let’s explore the idea of Garrett being traded to the Seahawks.
Seahawks Rumors: Seattle Trading for Browns Star Myles Garrett Would Boost Chances to Repeat as Super Bowl Champions
Garett’s four-year, $160 million contract is slated to go through the 2030 season. The Seahawks already have a loaded group of pass rushers and adding Garrett to the “Dark Side” defense would give Seattle an increased chance to repeat as Super Bowl champs.
“The Seahawks have nearly $58.1 million in cap space (sixth-most in the NFL), so they have the cabbage to absorb Garrett’s salary,” Davenport wrote in a March 7, 2026, story titled, “Projecting Myles Garrett’s Trade Value, Best Fits After Raiders‘ Maxx Crosby Deal.” “They’ll be picking at the end of Round 1 in 2026 and likely wouldn’t be picking much higher in 2027 after bringing Garrett in.
“Making this trade would make Seattle’s ‘Dark Side’ defense so scary that even Darth Vader would be sweating under his helmet. And if the Seahawks reworked Garrett’s contract as part of the deal, they could even have the spending power to retain in-house free agents like Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III.”
Myles Garrett Set the NFL Record With 23 Sacks in 2025
Acquiring Garrett comes with a high price tag considering the star’s lucrative contract as well as the amount of assets the Seahawks would need to send the Browns in a potential trade. Yet, the case for Garrett is hard to argue against.
Garrett set the NFL record with 23 sacks during the 2025 season. The star has had eight straight seasons with double-digit sacks. Garrett has posted at least 14 sacks in five straight seasons.
Myles Garrett on Browns: ‘If We’re Thinking (Anything) Other Than Winning… That’s Not Me’
Things between the Browns and Garrett have been like that complicated couple you knew in college. Garrett requested a trade during the 2025 offseason only to sign a new contract extension with Cleveland months later. Back in January, Garrett did not exactly provide a ringing endorsement regarding the current state of affairs with the Browns.
“I’m committed to winning,” Garrett told reporters on January 2, per ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi. “As long as the team and organization are doing so and they’re committed to that same thing, then I’m all on board.
“But if we’re thinking (anything) other than winning — tanking or rebuilding — that’s not me.”
