Trespasser on tracks in Berkeley causes major BART delay

Service between the Castro Valley and West Dublin/Pleasanton station stopped after the outage began about 9:30 a.m., BART spokesperson Jim Allison said. The agency is in touch with the utility, he said.

BART service also stopped between the Rockridge and Orinda stations about 10:35 a.m. because of a PG&E issue in the Berkeley Hills Tunnel separate from the earlier problem, Allison said.

The service between Rockridge and Orinda stayed down for about an hour but was restored by 11:40 a.m. A major delay remained on the Antioch line in both directions in the aftermath.

PG&E did not immediately return calls seeking the reason for the outages. There was no estimated time when power was to be restored.

Allison said BART has no bus service transporting people between Castro Valley and the Dublin/Pleasanton station.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
