Philadelphia Flyers playoff hero Porter Martone has the NHL’s best-selling jersey throughout the playoffs so far.
Martone, who was the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NHL entry draft, played in just nine games for the Flyers this year, while adding 10 points. But he has shown so far in the playoffs that he is an elite talent, having scored two game-winning goals for the Flyers through the first three games of the playoffs. The Flyers, who entered the game as the underdog against the Pittsburgh Penguins, hold a commanding 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinals matchup. The Flyers have a chance on Saturday night at home to eliminate the rival Penguins from the playoffs.
Martone has been an overnight revelation for Flyers fans and for hockey fans in general, many of who many not have known who he was before the playoffs. But based on his strong play so far, they will remember the name for many years to come.
According to ESPN hockey reporter Emily Kaplan, Martone’s popularity is booming as far as jersey sales go. To that end, he is the No. 1 top-selling jersey right now at the NHL Shop, with teammate Trevor Zegras right behind him at No. 2.
“The @NHLFlyers are making noise with a 3-0 series lead over the Penguins. Since the playoffs began… NHL Shop’s No. 1 selling jersey is Porter Martone. No. 2 is Trevor Zegras. Martone’s sales are up 1,174% since scoring back-to-back GWG in his first two playoff games,” Kaplan wrote.
Porter Martone is a Blooming NHL Superstar
The best way to become a superstar in the NHL is to prove your worth in the playoffs, and that’s exactly what Martone is doing so far. His play through the first three games of the series has been sensational, as he is showing that he is an elite talent who is going to be a star in this league for many years to come. If the Flyers make a deep run in this year’s playoffs, you can expect Martone to be among the team’s top point leaders.
“He seems always to be in the right areas. And it takes a smart hockey player to have that. He’s been huge for us. The puck finds him. Making a lot of the right plays. Special young player, and it’s been great to play alongside him,” teammate Christian Dvorak said of Martone (via NHL.com).
The Philadelphia Flyers Are a Wagon
The Flyers have been one of the pleasant surprises of the playoffs thus far. They entered this series against the Penguins as the road team, but they stole home-ice advantage from their cross-state rivals by winning the first two games of the series due to Martone’s two game-winning goals. The Flyers then cruised to a victory in the third game of the series, and now they only need to win one of the remaining four games to make it through to the second round of the playoffs.
The Flyers have completely dominated the Penguins during this series, and they look like a dark horse contender to make it to the Stanley Cup finals this year. With head coach Rick Tocchet getting the most out of the Flyers’ young players and their goaltending holding up well, the team has been on a roll lately, and it looks like they have all the pieces in place to make a long run.
