Police officer loses gun in Arlington Heights school restroom

Arlington Heights police are still searching for a firearm left by a resource officer using the restroom at Forest View Educational Center.

Police officials called the lost weapon an “unfortunate and embarrassing incident.”

The officer reported the weapon missing just before classes were dismissed for the day Monday afternoon.

Police dogs were called in to search for the weapon to no avail. Video surveillance in the hallway showed only a few people entered the restroom after the officer.

Anyone with information about the weapon’s whereabouts is urged to contact police at (847) 368-5300.
