Pittsburgh Pirates Announce Konnor Griffin Decision Before Nationals Game

On Wednesday night, the Pittsburgh Pirates will play the third game of their series with the Washington Nationals at PNC Park.

The Pirates and Nationals are currently tied up at 1-1 after splitting the first two.

In their most recent game (on Tuesday), the Nationals won by a score of 5-4.

Konnor Griffin finished with two hits in four at-bats.

For Wednesday’s game, the Pirates have announced their starting lineup.

Griffin will not be in the lineup.

Jake Kirby of FPTrack.com wrote: “Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin will not start in the game against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. Konnor Griffin is receiving a routine day off and is expected to return to the lineup shortly.”

Griffin is in the middle of his rookie season.

The 19-year-old is batting .189 with five RBI’s, five runs and one stolen base in 11 games.

The Pirates have had a strong start to the year with a 10-7 record in 17 games, which has them tied with the Cincinnati Reds for first place in the National League Central.

They are 5-3 in eight games at home.

Following the Nationals, the Pirates will remain at home to host the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday.
