Penn State Lands Major Prediction to Land Elite Quarterback

The Penn State Nittany Lions and head coach Matt Campbell are working hard to turn things around for the upcoming 2026 season.

After starting the 2025 campaign off expected to be a National Championship contender under James Franklin, things didn’t go nearly according to plan. Penn State ended up missing the College Football Playoff and Franklin was fired midseason.

Campbell has been tasked with the job of turning the proud program back into a contender. He is off to a strong start. On Tuesday, he got another boost towards his goal.

Steve Wiltfong has revealed a prediction for the Nittany Lions to land talented four-star 2027 quarterback Peter Bourque.

Making sure that the quarterback situation is in good health long-term is key to having a successful program. Bourque offers the potential of being a starting quarterback in the near future.

Who Is Penn State QB Target Peter Bourque?

Hailing from Marion, Massachusetts, Bourque is a 6-foot-4 and 220 pound quarterback prospect. He has received major hype as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 recruiting class.

Currently, 247 Sports has ranked Bourque as the No. 7 overall quarterback in the 2027 class, while also ranking him as the No. 80 overall player in the nation.

Penn State has faced serious competition to land Bourque’s commitment. While it’s not a done deal, the Nittany Lions are poised to beat out programs like Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Miami, and Oregon for his services.

What Are the Scouts Saying About Bourque?

247 Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins has released his scouting report on the talented young quarterback. Penn State fans will like reading what he had to say.

Senators Mistake from Years Ago Could Haunt Team in 2026

“Towering pocket passer with a live arm that has turned heads with his exit velocity, release points and ball placement. Will head to college with a little more seasoning than others after electing to reclassify and move back a year. That gained maturity constantly shows up on tape as he’s a decisive thrower that limits risks,” Ivins wrote.

“Sees the field well and will let route concepts develop while coordinating a modern pro-style attack. Rips tight spirals to the second and third levels with ease and has proven to be extremely efficient working off play-action. Grew up playing lacrosse and those movement skills translate over to the gridiron as he will climb away from pressure and step into throws. Not one that’s afraid to embrace contact. Hasn’t faced the highest-level of competition in New England, but has delivered in key moments, which counts. Should be viewed as a potential multi-year starter at the Power Four level that can challenge defense vertically.”

During the 2025 high school season, Bourque completed 63.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,241 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also racked up 688 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Massachusetts.

Should the Nittany Lions find a way to wrap up this commitment, Campbell would be taking a big step in the right direction.
