The NFL officially releases the full 2026 schedule Thursday night, but Patriots fans already know quite a bit about what Mike Vrabel’s second full season in New England could look like.
Between confirmed opponents, international game news, early leaks and growing rumors about possible prime-time matchups, there’s already plenty to track ahead of schedule release night.
Here’s everything we know so far about the Patriots’ 2026 schedule.
Patriots 2026 Opponents Officially Set
Thanks to the NFL’s rotating scheduling formula, the Patriots already know every team they’ll face in 2026 — even if exact dates and kickoff times are still unknown.
Home Opponents
- Buffalo Bills
- Miami Dolphins
- New York Jets
- Denver Broncos
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Green Bay Packers
- Minnesota Vikings
- Pittsburgh Steelers
Away Opponents
- Buffalo Bills
- Miami Dolphins
- New York Jets
- Chicago Bears
- Detroit Lions
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Seattle Seahawks
On paper, the Patriots appear to have one of the tougher schedules in the AFC, particularly with road trips to Kansas City, Detroit, Seattle and Buffalo.
The 2026 season also marks the first time since 2022 that New England will face the NFC North.
Germany Game Against Lions Already Confirmed
One major piece of the Patriots’ schedule is no longer a rumor.
New England officially will play the Detroit Lions in Munich, Germany on Nov. 15 in Week 10. The game is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff on FOX.
The Patriots previously played in Germany during the 2023 season against the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt. The 2026 matchup against Detroit will mark the franchise’s second Germany appearance in four seasons.
The game also carries extra intrigue because it gives Drake Maye another international spotlight game early in his career while matching Vrabel against one of the NFL’s top contenders in the Lions.
Patriots Linked to Possible Seahawks Opener
One of the biggest early schedule rumors involves a possible Week 1 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks are expected to host the NFL’s opening-week festivities after winning Super Bowl LX, and multiple reports have connected the Patriots to that game.
There have been conflicting reports, however.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said he does not believe New England is the most likely opponent for Seattle, while Barstool Sports’ Kirk Minihane has reported he believes the Patriots remain in the mix.
If the matchup happens, it would instantly become one of the NFL’s most talked-about openers given the recent history between the two franchises from this past Super Bowl.
Prime-Time Games Could Increase Under Mike Vrabel
After several seasons with limited national exposure, the Patriots could be in line for more prime-time appearances in 2026.
The combination of Vrabel, Maye, a rising young roster and a massive national fanbase makes New England a far more attractive television draw than they were during the immediate post-Tom Brady years.
Games against the Chiefs, Bills, Lions, Packers and Seahawks all feel like realistic candidates for national television windows.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport also previously reported the Patriots are expected to be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” in 2027, another sign the franchise is regaining national attention entering the Vrabel era.
Joint Practices, Preseason & Training Camp Matchups
The Patriots also already know at least one preseason detail.
The Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to visit Gillette Stadium during the preseason, and the trip is expected to include joint practices.
Joint practices have become increasingly important evaluation periods around the NFL, and a matchup against the Eagles could provide an early measuring stick for Vrabel’s staff heading into the regular season.
Additional preseason opponents and dates are expected to be announced alongside the full NFL schedule release Thursday night.
The Patriots’ full 2026 schedule will officially be revealed Thursday, but between confirmed games, international travel, rivalry matchups and mounting rumors, fans already have plenty circled on the calendar.
