Green Bay Packers edge-rusher Micah Parsons is a regular on the NFL’s All-Pro team, but he isn’t interested in anyone hoarding the honor — including himself.
The league released its first-team and second-team All-Pro selections on Saturday, January 10 ahead of the opening games of Super Wild Card Weekend. Parsons earned a first-team selection, despite missing three-plus games after tearing his ACL during a non-contact injury against the Denver Broncos in Week 15. It was his third first-team selection and fourth selection overall.
Some media members and fans took issue with the “all-purpose” slot on offense, which running back Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers captured, contending that it should not exist. But Parsons, who has far more experience with the All-Pro teams than any of the aforementioned outspoken critics, firmly disagreed.
“I don’t believe an ‘All Purpose’ position should exist on the All-Pro ballot,” analyst Emmanuel Acho posted to X Saturday. “The NFL is an 11 [player] league. We should vote on 1RB, 1TE, 3WRs (no FB). We water down the historical exclusivity of All-Pro teams by adding spots that don’t exist on the field.”
“Ehhh, you can put some players on defense as all-purpose players!” Parsons responded, doubling down on the notion as no ‘all-purpose’ spot on defensive All-Pro teams currently exists. “There are so many talented players in the league now that some people may not receive the recognition they deserve because we still have some historically great players who are still at their peak!”

Parsons finished the season with 26 quarterback hits, 12.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles across 14 games played (13 starts) in his first campaign with the Packers.
The Dallas Cowboys traded Parsons, now a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro, to Green Bay in late August for two first-round draft picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
Joining Parsons on the first-team at the edge-rusher position Saturday were Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, who broke the NFL’s single-season record with 23 sacks, and Will Anderson Jr. of the Houston Texans.
Safety Xavier McKinney was the only other member of the Packers to win All-Pro honors this season, earning a spot on the second-team.
Packers Square Off With Bears in Opening Round of Playoffs

While Parsons will watch from the sideline, McKinney will play on Saturday night against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in the Packers’ playoff rubber match against their longtime NFC North Division rivals.
Green Bay won the first matchup at Lambeau Field in early December by a touchdown. The Packers were also up 10 points in the fourth quarter against the Bears in Chicago just two weeks later, but surrendered a field goal, an onside kick recovery and a late touchdown to the Bears’ offense that sent the contest to overtime.
Chicago scored a touchdown in the extra period to win the game by six points.
The Packers are 2.5-point road favorites to best the Bears and advance to the NFC Divisional Round as of Saturday afternoon, per DraftKings Sportsbook.
