The Green Bay Packers have had a relatively quiet NFL offseason thus far outside of the many players leaving town in free agency.
Brian Gutekunst has brought in three players from the outside so far. Those three players are defensive lineman Javon Hargrave, wide receiver and return man Skyy Moore, and linebacker Zaire Franklin.
While the offseason has been slow to start, the Packers are almost certainly still open for business. If the right move presents itself, the front office will not hesitate to pounce. That right move could come either in free agency or the trade market.
Keeping that in mind, one Green Bay reporter has suggested that the team could be a perfect trade partner for the Miami Dolphins following their blockbuster trade that sent wide receiver Jaylen Waddle out of town.
Packers Reporter Thinks Dolphins Could Be Perfect Trade Partner
Peter Bukowski of Locked On Packers believes that either Jayden Reed or Dontayvion Wicks would be obvious trade targets for the Dolphins after moving on from Waddle.
“Wicks or Reed are such obvious trade targets now,” Bukowski wrote on X.
Miami could use a wide receiver badly. After signing former Packers quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million deal in NFL free agency, the Dolphins need to find him weapons. They simply can’t head into the 2026 season anywhere close to where they currently stand at the position.
Either Reed or Wicks would be a massive upgrade for Miami. Add in the fact that both of them have previous chemistry with Willis and a trade makes even more sense.
Would Green Bay Consider Trading a Wide Receiver?
Currently, Green Bay still has a loaded wide receiver room with a lot of young talent. Even after losing Romeo Doubs to the New England Patriots in NFL free agency, the Packers are in good shape.
If the trade offer was right, Gutekunst would likely consider trading a wideout. However, he isn’t going to give one away.
Last season with Green Bay, Reed played in just seven games due to a broken collarbone suffered early in the year. He caught 19 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown. In 2024, he racked up 55 receptions for 857 yards and six scores in 17 games.
As for Wicks, the 24-year-old receiver caught 30 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games last year. In 2024, he had 39 receptions for 415 yards and five touchdowns.
Wicks is far more movable than Reed at this point in time. However, he has shown flashes of big-time potential throughout his three-year tenure with the Packers.
The speculation between Green Bay and Miami makes a lot of sense. Whether or not the Packers would actually pull the trigger on a deal if the Dolphins were interested is the question.
