Wide receiver Romeo Doubs was the subject of NFL trade rumors throughout 2025. But he remained with the Green Bay Packers to lead the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Entering 2026, the question is whether the Packers are ready to move on without Doubs or re-sign him before free agency.
Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst appeared to understand the situation when he addressed it at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine this week. Doubs could have an opportunity for a big payday this March.
But that doesn’t mean Gutekunst isn’t open to Doubs returning to the Packers.
“We’re still kind of going through that process,” Gutekunst told reporters Tuesday, via Pro Football Talk’s Myles Simmons. “Romeo’s done a fantastic job for us over his four years with the Green Bay Packers — very consistent, his work ethic is second to none.
“Again, we’d love to have him back. And if we do, he’ll be a big part of our football team. And if we don’t, I’m sure he’ll be very successful wherever he goes.”
Doubs will be an unrestricted free agent in March after completing his rookie contract with the Packers. He was first for the team with 55 receptions and registered a career-high 724 receiving yards in 2025.
