Packers Fans Elated After Rich Bisaccia Announcement

The Green Bay Packers proved not be the championship-caliber team that many envisioned them as earlier on in the season, when they squandered an 18-point halftime lead against the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs to ultimately lose the game 31-27.

Some blame Micah Parsons‘ injury, whilst others think about what may have been had tight end Tucker Kraft stayed healthy for the whole season. But no one can argue that injuries did not impact whatsoever the unit has easily been the worst part of Green Bay’s game for the past decade and more – special teams.

After it was announced that head coach Matt LaFleur would remain with the team, fans started calling harder for Bisaccia’s job, with him having overseen the special teams unit in Green Bay for the past three years with markedly little improvements to show for over that time frame.

Especially since All-Pro returner Keisean Nixon moved off the third phase of the game to focus on being the team’s CB1 this past season.

As such, when the team announced that Bisaccia would be stepping down from his position, there was a very positive response from the fanbase.

“Happiest day of the year so far,” another wrote.

Another fan speculated that with a better special teams coordinator the team could be Super Bowl bound in 2026.

Packers Organization Rebuked For Poor Timing

However, not all fans shared in the revelry of pure joy. Some, particularly Packers writers and analysts, expressed happiness that this change had happened but bemoaned the fact that it had not happened sooner in the coaching cycle before the best candidates had been snapped up.

“Well that’s a pretty significant update. Bummer that this happened now and not MUCH earlier in the cycle. We’ll see if change will finally do the unit good.” Andy Herman wrote in response to the report.

“Very cool that this happened on February 17th after Jeff Rodgers and Danny Smith already signed with new clubs”, Acme Packing Company’s Justis Mosqueda wrote sarcastically.

“Yeah, everyone wanted Rich Bisaccia gone. Maybe change was needed. But the timing of this isn’t great. This hiring cycle is mostly complete. Can Matt LaFleur find a good special teams coach from what’s left?” Zach Kruse of The Packers Wire posted.
The timing certainly could have been better, but at this point, most fans will be glad for some much-needed change at the coaching position.
