OT Hero David Pastrnak Has Major Request For Bruins Fans

The situation appeared bleak for the Boston Bruins, who were throttled by a 6-1 final score in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Buffalo Sabres on home ice.

Heavy booing rained down from the angry Bruins fans in attendance, and goaltender Jeremy Swayman was seen shouting at teammates at the bench after he was pulled in the third period.

However, the good news is that the Bruins, who were then faced with no choice but having to win three straight games if they wanted to avoid a first round elimination, have taken care of the first step – winning Game 5 in front of the rowdy fans in Buffalo by a 2-1 final score in overtime.

Bruins sniper David Pastrnak scored the overtime game-winning goal on Tuesday night, deking goaltender Alex Lyon with a backhand-forehand move to guarantee the Bruins would live to fight another day.

David Pastrnak Has A Major Request For Boston Bruins Fans

Following the game and after guaranteeing his teammates and fans of the Bruins that they’ll have at least one more home game this season, Pastrnak delivered a request to the fans who will be in attendance on Friday evening at TD Garden.

“Just be loud, please, and be patient. We’re gonna shoot the puck, don’t worry,” Pastrnak said.

Meanwhile, forward Hampus Lindholm guaranteed that the Sabres will be seeing a different Bruins team on Thursday in their barn.

“They’re going to see a different Boston Bruins at home. We’re going to play the game we’ve been playing here on the road. Take that home. We love playing in front of our fans,” Lindholm said. “It’s gonna be a real tough game for Buffalo to try to close out the series. We’re going to make it hard on them.”

Game 6 is set for Friday evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. For the Bruins, they’ll be looking for their first win on home ice so far this postseason.

The Bruins Lauded David Pastrnak’s Performance

Pastrnak, Boston’s top forward who scored 29 goals with 71 assists during the regular season, earned high praise from his coaches and teammates following his overtime heroics on Tuesday evening.

“There are only a few players, I think, who can do that,” head coach Marco Sturm said. “Not the finish, but the way he doesn’t go offside…He somehow, he always gets it done. And what a nice finish from him. I’m just very happy because this guy puts a lot of pressure on himself, and he wants to be the difference. Today he was.”

“I’ve played with Pasta long enough to know he likes to sneak away for those,” H. Lindholm said. “I saw him kind of start coming in his little loop. He’s pretty special when it comes to those opportunities, too. It was fun to see it go in.”

Following the trade last season of captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers, the Bruins have yet to name an official successor.

However, Pastrnak is perhaps the most obvious and likely choice to become the next captain of the historic Original 6 franchise if and when that decision is made.
