Oddsmakers Put Bucs Among Favorites to Land Disgruntled All-Pro in Trade

The sweepstakes for Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby is heating up, and it turns out the people who set the odds think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are very much in the mix.

“DraftKings has the Bears as the +200 favorites to secure his services via trade with the Raiders,” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio wrote on Tueday. “Staying put with the Raiders is a +350 proposition. Five teams are clustered at +700: the Rams … Cowboys, Bills, Ravens, and Eagles. The Patriots land at +1000, with the Lions and Buccaneers at +1200.”

Crosby coming to the Buccaneers would be seismic, and the biggest offseason move since the franchise signed quarterback Tom Brady in 2020, which resulted in the franchise winning the Super Bowl.

Crosby is a game-changing defender, the likes of which haven’t been seen in Tampa Bay since Pro Football Hall of Famers Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks were leading the way in the early 2000s.

Crosby was decidedly vague around him as the storm of rumors around him raged on.

“Fear Less,” Crosby wrote on his official X account on Tuesday. “Do More.”

Maxx Crosby Has Sounded Off On Trade Rumors

Crosby signed a 3-year, $106.5 million contract before the 2025 season and has seemed pretty frustrated with his situation recently.
“I just want to play football and be left the (expletive) alone,” Crosby said on the “Let’s Go!” podcast in mid-February. “People can say whatever they want. But truly, I don’t give a (expletive) besides playing football and winning football games. I give my whole life to this sport every single day.”
According to one ESPN report, at least 20 teams have already approached the Raiders about a trade.

Crosby Wants No Part of Raiders Rebuild

In 7 NFL seasons since the Raiders drafted Crosby in the 4th round out of Eastern Michigan, he’s a 5-time Pro Bowler and 2-time NFL All-Pro with 69.5 career sacks and 111 career TFL — a category he’s led the NFL in twice, in 2022 and 2023.

In 2025, playing for the worst team in the NFL, Crosby had 73 tackles, 10.0 sacks, 28 TFL, 6 pass deflections, 1 interception, and 2 forced fumbles in just 15 games as the Raiders shut him down for the final 2 games of the regular season. It was a move likely done to make sure the Raiders secured the No. 1 overall pick.

Crosby wants no part of the rebuilding effort that comes with that No. 1 overall pick — almost certainly Heisman Trophy-winning Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza — and has been part of some truly terrible teams.

In 7 seasons with Crosby, the Raiders have had a winning record and made the playoffs once, in 2021, when they went 10-7 and lost in the AFC Wild Card Round. The Raiders are 7-27 over the last 2 seasons.

Buccaneers Missed Big in 2025 Free Agency

The Buccaneers took a big swing and missed on an edge rusher in the 2025 free agency cycle when they signed 2-time NFL All-Pro Haason Reddick to a 1-year, $14 million contract and got 2.5 sacks in return.

Getting Crosby would almost be an unprecedented move for the Buccaneers, with Bleacher Report predicting any team that wants the perennial All-Pro would need to give up a 2026 1st round pick, 2026 3rd round pick, conditional 2027 2nd round pick and 2027 3rd-round pick.
