After dealing with an injury scare late last week, the Denver Nuggets seemingly avoided a notable setback with their star sharpshooter, Jamal Murray.
In a blowout matchup against the New York Knicks, the night went from bad to worse for the Nuggets. Murray needed assistance walking off the court. When he went back to the locker room to get checked out, he wasn’t on the court for the start of the second half.
At that point, fans started thinking about the worst-case scenario. It seemed Murray’s season just might be in jeopardy. It turns out that’s not the case. Sunday’s update on Murray ended up being a positive one.
Jamal Murray Avoids A Long-Term Setback
via Tim McMahon, ESPN: Nuggets star G Jamal Murray is considered day to day after leaving Fridayâs loss to the Knicks with an ankle injury, sources told ESPN. Expected to be listed as questionable for Mondayâs game in OKC.
The Nuggets and the Oklahoma City Thunder will tip off at 7:30 PM ET on Monday, March 9. Murray is likely a game-time decision for the matchup.
Denver Nuggets Fans React To The Update
GettyAfter going down in the Nuggets’ game against the Knicks, the latest Jamal Murray injury update on his ankle signals good news for the team.
“Blue arrow isnât taken out easily,” n00bmast36rnine said on Reddit.
“Huge. just please please please go easy on his minutes,” outofmindwgo suggested.
“I was convinced it’s gonna be 4 to 6 weeks. maybe theres a hope for this season,”zokii1983 added.
“His body really is built differently. But seriously, let him sit for 10 days just to make sure,” said Clear-Ad9720.
Following the Friday night blowout loss against the Knicks, Nuggets head coach David Adelman made a statement on Murray’s injury. While he didn’t have a detailed update right away, the head coach was confident that Murray wouldn’t be out for long.
It turns out that he was right.
âTheyâre going to check on it [on Saturday]. Itâs really sore,â Adelman said after the game.
âYou guys all know Jamal. When he sprains his ankle, he usually comes back and plays. This has just been insane. Every time we get somebody back, I feel like that game, somebody else goes out. It has nothing to do with the game; itâs just the way itâs been. Whatever group we have that is healthy for OKC, whatever the minute restrictions are, and all of the excuses, we just have to play a hell of a lot better.â
The Nuggets Are In Solid Shape

This season, Murray has put together an All-Star year.
The sharpshooter is making 43% of his threes, while taking 7.5 attempts per game. Overall, he is averaging 48% from the field to average 25.5 points per game.
Along with his scoring, Murray is coming down with 4.3 rebounds per game and dishing out 7.2 assists per game.
The Nuggets recently fell to the sixth seed in the Western Conference, but they are still in solid shape. With a 39-25 record, they could surpass the Los Angeles Lakers to grab the fifth seed again with a win on Monday night in OKC.
Behind the Nuggets sits the Phoenix Suns, who trail by two games.
Murray’s status might be up in the air on Monday, but he isn’t expected to miss too much time, if any, at this point.
