On Saturday, March 21, a house fire tragically took the life of NHL reporter Jessi Pierce and her three children.
According to a report from Fox News, via the White Bear Lake Fire Department, a fire at her home in White Bear Lake resulted in the deaths of Pierce and her three children. Officials have not yet shared information on what may have caused the fire, but an investigation is underway.
“The White Bear Lake Fire Department said its crews responded to a reported fire at a single-family home in the 2100 block of Richard Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. on Saturday,” Fox News reported.
“Neighbors who called 911 reported seeing flames coming through the roof of the house and said there were likely people inside,” the report added.
Jessi Pierce Was a Minnesota Wild Reporter
Pierce was a longtime reporter covering the Minnesota Wild. After the sad news broke, the Wild took to social media to pay their respects to her.
“The Minnesota Wild organization is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Jessi Pierce and her children,” the Wild said in an official statement. “Jessi was a kind, compassionate person that cared deeply about her family and those around her. She served as a dedicated ambassador for the game of hockey during her time covering the Wild and the NHL.”
The statement added, “Jessi and her children will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to their family, friends, and all who knew and loved them.”
“Man was she a talent. One of the best I ever worked with, and as genuine as they come. Exact same person off-screen as you saw on shows. Radiated positive energy. I’m gutted. We lost one of the good ones,” one follower stated on X.
WFAA sports anchor Mike Leslie also took to social media to pay his respects, stating, “The NHL, the Minnesota Wild, and countless hockey reporters, fans, players, and beyond have sent their condolences to the Pierce family over the last few hours, as the hockey world grapples with a senseless and unexplainable loss.”
The Missin Curfew Podcast shared, “Absolutely heartbroken reading the news about Jessi Pierce and her family. Jessi was always good to us with her support of Missin Curfew and it was always nice seeing @bardownbeautpod on our feed Hug your loved ones today and Rest in Peace to Jessi and her boys.”
Officials Offer Their Condolences on NHL Reporter’s Death
Officials are also sending on their condolences. White Bear Lake Fire Chief Greg Peterson shared the following statement, according to Fox News, stating, “Our hearts ache for those involved in this tragedy. We ask for the opportunity to allow our community to come together and support one another during this difficult time.”
As for what’s ahead, the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office says it will will lead an investigation into the source of the fire. The White Bear Lake Fire Department is also expected to release more information when it’s available.
