New York Yankees Pitcher Cam Schlittler Doesn’t Hold Back on Red Sox Ahead of Start in Boston

The New York Yankees are off to a solid start in the 2026 MLB season. Through the Yanks’ first 21 games, the team is 12-9. Over this weekend, the Yankees swept the Kansas City Royals.

Their next series? Against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. It’s a three-game set. The Red Sox are 8-12, but a series like this can make the standings look way more even. One reason for New York’s hot start is second-year starter Cam Schlittler. Recently, he did not hold back on the Red Sox, knowing that he would start game three of the series on Thursday.

Per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic, starter Cam Schlittler had strong words for the Boston Red Sox fans trolling him on social media:

(You’d) think after the last time, how much they were talking before, that they might be trying to quiet it down a little bit.”

The Yankees defeated the Red Sox 2-1 in the AL Wild Card Series back in October. Cam Schlittle turned in a stellar outing, striking out 12 Boston hitters in one of the games.

Cam Schlittler was drafted by the New York Mets in the 7th round of the 2022 MLB draft. He was brought up to MLB in 2025, after swiftly moving through the minor leagues due to his electric movement on his fastball, and dangerous slider with high swing and miss probability.

In 14 starts and 73 innings last season, Schlittler struck out 84 batters and boasted a 2.96 ERA.

This season, Cam Schlittler has been a strong reason as to why New York’s rotation has performed so well.

With Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon sidelined due to injury, Schlittler has made five starts and pitched 27.2 innings to the tune of a 1.95 ERA and 36 strikeouts.

Given the Red Sox high strikeout nature, Schlittler could very well get several swings and misses on Thursday.

The Boston Red Sox have gotten off to an underwhelming start. Much like the Yankees, Boston holds playoff aspirations.

Their starting rotation might be an area of concern, and slow starts for Ceddanne Rafaela, Caleb Durbin, and Trevor Story have led to a very stagnant offense.

That Red Sox-Yankees series will likely be the talk of MLB for this upcoming week.
