On Friday night, the New York Yankees will open up a series with the Tampa Bay Rays in Florida.

Despite a strong start to the new season, they are coming off a disappointing series where they lost two out of three (at home) to the Athletics.

Before their series with the Rays, the Yankees got an update on Anthony Volpe.

He has yet to appear in a game this season.

Erik Boland of Newsday Sports wrote: “The plan with Anthony Volpe as of now, which is always subject to change, is for him to start a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Somerset.”

Volpe is coming off a season where he batted .212 with 19 home runs, 72 RBI’s, 65 runs and 18 stolen bases in 153 games.

Volpe has appeared in 472 games over three MLB seasons.

The 2023 Gold Glove winner is batting .222 with 52 home runs, 192 RBI’s, 217 runs and 70 stolen bases.
