On Friday evening, the New York Yankees will open up their series with the Baltimore Orioles in the Bronx.
The Yankees had the day off on Thursday (following a nine-game road trip).
On the trip, Giancarlo Stanton got hurt and he has been out of action since April 24.
The Yankees wrote (via X) on April 28: “Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Recalled INF Max Schuemann (#30) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. • Placed DH/OF Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to 4/25) with a right calf strain.”

Ahead of Friday’s series, Aaron Boone revealed the latest on Stanton (h/t RotoWire).
Gary Phillips of NY Daily News Sports wrote: “Giancarlo Stanton hasn’t run yet, Aaron Boone said. The hope is he starts hitting this weekend.”
Stanton had been batting .256 with 23 hits, three home runs, 14 RBI’s, eight runs and one stolen base in 24 games.
He is in the middle of his ninth year playing for New York.

Stanton is no longer in his prime (he last made an All-Star Game in 2022), but he is still a very valuable player for the Yankees.
Before his time with the franchise, the 2017 MVP spent the first eight years of his career with the Miami Marlins.

Yankees Ahead Of Series With Baltimore
The Yankees are coming off a series where they took two out of three from the Texas Rangers, but they most recently lost 3-0 on Wednesday.
Before that, they took two out of three from the Houston Astros (and swept the Boston Red Sox).
Right now, the Yankees are at the top of their division with a 20-11 record in 31 games.
