The New York Mets are currently taking on the Colorado Rockies in a three-game weekend series. In a tightly contested first game, the Rockies defeated the Mets 4-3, which dropped New York to 9-17 on the season.
Saturday morning, the team released an announcement that is very pertinent to the game Saturday afternoon.

New York Mets vs. Colorado Rockies Saturday Afternoon Contest Postponed

Due to severe weather in the New York area, the Saturday afternoon game between the Colorado Rockies and New York Mets has been postponed and will be made up on Sunday in a split doubleheader.
MLB.com was first on the report, and wrote (early on April 25):
“The New York Mets have announced that Saturday’s game against the Colorado Rockies has been postponed due to weather. The contest will be made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader tomorrow, Sunday, April 26, beginning at 1:40 p.m. ET. Gates will open at 12:10 p.m., while parking lots will open at 11:40 a.m. Game two will begin approximately 30-45 minutes following the conclusion of game one.”
The informational post on the site indicates that any fans who had a ticket to Saturday’s game will receive a voucher loaded into their team account. It’s unclear how this weather incident will change the Mets’ pitching plans, but it could, and those details will be released at a further time.
The Mets recently broke their 12-game losing skid against the Minnesota Twins, and were actually able to take the series from the Twins, but then dropped the series opener against the Rockies on Friday in another lackluster performance.

The red-hot Atlanta Braves, who can’t seem to lose a game, hold a 19-8 record and 5.5-game lead in the NL East.
Luckily for New York (in some sense), misery loves company, and it’s actually the Philadelphia Phillies who hold the worst record in baseball.
Both the Phillies and Mets entered the 2026 season with very high aspirations, and through the first month of the season, both have underperformed drastically.
New York was without Juan Soto during the losing skid, but once he returned, Francisco Lindor went down with the same injury (calf strain), and it is expected to miss more time than Soto.
There’s still time to turn it around, but the issues are larger looming than just the recent losing streak, and if the Mets finish the month with 20 losses, that’s not exactly ideal for the summer months when it’s usually harder to go on a run.
However, Mets fans, as for this Colorado Rockies series, the doubleheader will be on Sunday, and in order for the Mets to win this series, they will have to sweep the two games.
