On Friday afternoon, the New York Mets will begin a new series when they take on the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in Illinois.
The Mets most recently got swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers (in California).
They have been the coldest team in the MLB, losing eight games in a row.
One of the big reasons for their rough stretch is that they have been without Juan Soto.

Before Friday’s game, the Mets announced the latest on Soto.
Laura Albanese of Newsday wrote: “Juan Soto is progressing in baseball activities and is still on track to return next week but the Mets will want to do a supplemental MRI to ensure he’s OK before activating him”
Before getting hurt, the Mets superstar had been batting .355 with one home run, five RBI’s and three runs in eight games.
He is in his second year playing for the franchise.

Looking At The Mets
Getting Soto back in the lineup would be huge for the struggling Mets.
During their series with the Dodgers, they only scored three runs in three games.
Anthony DiComo of MLB.com wrote (on April 16): “The Mets have had by far the greatest drop in Fangraphs playoff odds of any MLB team in the early going, dipping from a high of 88.6% in spring training to 57.0% today.”

The Mets are the last-place team in the National League East with a 7-12 record.
They have gone 4-6 in ten games played away from Citi Field.
Following their series with the Cubs, the Mets will head home to host the Minnesota Twins (on April 21).
