The Miami Hurricanes have Darian Mensah as their quarterback for the 2026 season. Mensah decided to sign with the Hurricanes after agreeing to a settlement with Duke. He had signed an NIL deal with the Blue Devils, and Duke tried to hold him to it.
Now that the settlement has been agreed to, Mensah will be with the Hurricanes next season. Duke has officially rescinded the temporary restraining order that they filed so that he couldn’t enter the portal. With that happening, Mensah has officially signed with the Hurricanes.
Mensah is happy that he is with Miami now, but he was asked if he had anything to say to Duke fans on the way out. He let everyone know how fans feel about him.

Miami Hurricanes QB Darian Mensah Has Parting Shot for Duke Fans
Mensah made it clear that he doesn’t have much love for Duke fans any longer while talking to Pete Nakos of On3.
“What do I want to say to Duke fans? I’ll probably just leave that alone. To be honest, they’re pretty hostile towards me.”
Mensah did go on to say that he is happy with the time that he spent in Durham.
“I’m obviously grateful for all the support I’ve received during the season. Duke’s a special place. I’ve got nothing but good things to say about that place. Changed my life in the best way possible. Grateful.”
Fans of the Blue Devils will likely never forgive Mensah for deciding to transfer to Miami. At this point, Mensah clearly doesn’t care anymore. He will play one season for the Hurricanes before he declares for the NFL, where he hopes to be a possible first-round pick.
After playing for the national championship, Miami will have a Transfer Portal quarterback start for them for the third year in a row. Cam Ward and Carson Beck were the two before Mensah arrived.

The Miami Hurricanes Need More Help on Defense
Adding some offensive help is great, but the Hurricanes need more help on defense for next year. In 2025, the Hurricanes allowed the fifth-fewest points in the country. They lose two potential first-round picks from the defensive line, which wreaked havoc all year long.
Miami needs some guys to step up and develop on the defensive side of the ball if they are going to make a repeat appearance in the National Championship Game next season. They should still be a preseason top-15 team. They have a fairly easy schedule next season, as well.
The toughest games the Hurricanes have next season are at Notre Dame and at Clemson, which will not be easy. Still, Miami made the National Championship Game after losing two games this past season. Ohio State did it in 2024 and ended up winning it all.
As long as the Hurricanes don’t get blown out in a game next season, they should have enough firepower to make the 12-team College Football Playoff again.
