“Are you friends with any of the other drivers? No,” he said. “It’s funny because there’s usually some camaraderie. We travel together every week, same motorhome lot, same schedule, like a traveling circus.”
He explained that drivers move together from track to track, often parking in the same motorhome areas. This setup creates a shared environment where drivers often see each other. Still, NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Busch said that it does not lead to close relationships.
“Some drivers are friends because they grew up racing together. You see that with kids now, like my son and his buddies.”

“You want to beat those guys, win the trophy, take the money, and do it all again next week,” Busch said.
He added that his approach has not changed over time.
“I still have that same mentality.”
Busch also spoke about his son, who is already racing at a young age. The 10-year-old competes with friends and spends time with them away from the track. Busch used that example to show how some drivers form bonds early, even if those bonds do not apply to everyone later in their careers.

Busch also described how drivers live during the season. Many travel in large motorhomes or buses, similar to those used by touring music artists. Others, especially newer drivers, use smaller setups as they work their way up.
Despite these differences, all drivers stay close to each other during race weekends. They share the same spaces and follow the same schedule across the country.
Busch said that the environment may appear to be a close-knit community from the outside, but the reality is different. The focus remains on performance and results.
