Murder charges filed after DoorDash driver allegedly fatally shot Amazon worker

Murder charges have been filed against a 33-year-old food delivery driver accused of fatally shooting a man working at an Amazon plant earlier this week in south suburban Matteson.

The suspect, of Gary, Ind., was charged with murder after the death of of 26-year-old Dylan Perkins and was scheduled for a detention hearing at the Markham Courthouse.

Matteson police did not identify the suspect,

Police responded to a call of shots fired about 10:55 p.m. in an employee parking lot outside 7001 S. Vollmer Road, an Amazon fulfillment center that is open 24 hours, police said.

The suspect became embroiled in an argument with Perkins, who worked for a third-party vendor at Amazon, and fatally shot him before fleeing the scene, Matteson police said.

The death ofPerkins, who died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.


Police did not offer a motive for the attack.
