MOUNTAIN VIEW: A family of four was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and difficulty breathing after a small apartment complex caught fire Sunday morning, officials said.
At 4:32 a.m., the Mountain View Fire Department received a report of flames coming from a two-story, four-unit apartment complex on the 600 block of Leksich Avenue. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 4:38 a.m. and began cutting open walls and ceilings to extinguish the flames.
The American Red Cross is currently working to provide temporary housing for residents who were displaced while the apartment is renovated.
The Mountain View Fire Department said it believes the fire started in a laundry room of a first-floor apartment, though the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officials said damages to the property are estimated at $500,000.
