Police said the man was riding northbound on Seminary in the lane closest to the sidewalk.  As he approached Outlook Avenue he merged into the lane closest to the center median, lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a light pole in the median, causing him to be ejected onto the roadway, police said.

He was taken to a hospital where he died about a half-hour later.

Police said speeding appeared to be a factor in the collision but it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were also factors.

The fatality remains under investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to call police traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
