Authorities did not identify the man immediately, pending notification of his relatives.

According to the CHP, the man was speeding on a 2007 BMW 1200R motorcycle west on San Antonio Valley Road, west of Del Puerto Canyon Road, about 10:25 a.m. The CHP said the early investigation showed that the motorcycle went south off the paved portion of the roadway.

The motorcycle fell onto its right side with the driver and slid into a tubular metal fence, the CHP said. An ambulance rushed the man to a hospital, where he died about 12 hours after the wreck.

The CHP said alcohol or drug impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
