More than 400 flights delayed at DIA as high winds hit Colorado

Hundreds of flights headed in and out of Denver International Airport were delayed Tuesday morning as high winds hit Colorado’s Front Range and Eastern Plains.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a wind-based ground delay at DIA early Tuesday morning, which was delaying flights by an average of 2 hours at 7:30 a.m. The traffic management program is scheduled through 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to the FAA.

As of 7:30 a.m., 441 flights had been delayed and two had been canceled, according to data from flight-tracking software FlightAware.

Delays at that time included 330 Southwest flights, 61 United flights and 28 SkyWest flights, according to FlightAware. Six other airlines delayed between one and nine flights. Both canceled flights were SkyWest trips.
