MLB World Reacts to Phillies 9th Straight Loss In Extras to Cubs

After a three-run seventh inning, the Phillies caught a glimpse of what looked like their first win since April 14. However the now 16-9 Chicago Cubs, crushed their dreams with a bases loaded knock from Dansby Swanson in the bottom of the 10th inning.

With that loss, the Phillies have lost nine straight games are tied for the worst record in the MLB with the Kansas City Royals. They also are in last place in the National East, switching places with the New York Mets who just snapped a 12-game losing streak.

Adolis Garcia extended the game for the Phillies with a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth. MLB’s Paul Casella wrote on X that, “Adolis Garcia’s HR was the Phillies’ first game-tying pinch hit HR in the 9 inning in nearly 15 years. Last one: John Mayberry on Aug. 1, 2011 against the Rockies. Shane Victorino then hit a HR in the 10th to win it.”

While offensively, the Phillies played some of their best baseball, the Phillies went three up, three down in the 10th inning. And their pitching delivered the finishing blow by loading the bases.

Division rivals, the New York Mets, previously held the MLB’s longest losing streak with 12 games, until the finally defeated the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. Mets fans can’t help, but laugh at the Phillies losing in Mets fashion.

@schwarbombz: All this just to get walked off. They’re done man this was the best they’ve gotten from their offense in like 2 weeks and they still lose.

@macdaddy1396: I take some responsibility in current #Phillies losing streak because I said last week I would trade any amount of Phillies losses for 16 @NHLFlyers wins.

Fans are outraged with the Phillies organization, calling for a “retool”. In hopes of firing manager Rob Thomson, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, and hitting coach Kevin Long.

Unfortunately for the Phillies, they make their way to Atlanta to face the NL East first-place Braves, and fans believe the losses will just keep pouring in.
