MLB World Reacts to Former Dodgers Pitcher Trevor Bauer’s No-Hitter for Long Island Ducks

In case you missed it, after pretty much being blackballed by Major League Baseball, former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer has bounced across professional leagues/overseas to play baseball, and he’s now on the Long Island Ducks. The Ducks compete in the North Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an independent “partner league” of Major League Baseball.

On Sunday, Trevor Bauer threw a no-hitter (in seven innings), and the Ducks won 13-0 in a run rule. It was a scheduled seven-inning game, per reports.

After getting handed a 180-game suspension from commissioner Rob Manfred, Trevor Bauer has been unable to land on an MLB team, but he’s a controversial player because some think he’s still good enough to play in the bigs, and some don’t.

After his seven-inning no-hitter on Sunday afternoon, there was a large amount of buzz on social media. Here are some of the best outings, leading off with Trevor Bauer himself:

@BauerOutage: “Trevor Bauer sucks so much. He’s so washed.”
@GeorgenyPerez: “Trevor Bauer has just thrown a NO-HITTER in his second professional start with the Long Island Ducks. 7.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB and 7 K. The game was scheduled for seven innings.”
@DanClarkSports: “TREVOR BAUER NO HITTER ALERT!! @BauerOutage has just thrown an absolute gem for the @LIDucks, walking just one batter and striking out seven on his way to an incredible no-hitter. He required just 84 pitches. There is absolutely no doubt he could still pitch in the Majors.”

Before playing with the Reds and Dodgers, Bauer spent seven seasons with the Cleveland Guardians, who were the Indians when he played for them. He’s a one-time MLB All-Star and is 35-years-old.
