Nick will join his brother Marcus Foligno on the Minnesota Wild in return for “future considerations”.

Scott Powers, Mark Lazerus, and Chris Johnston of The Athletic broke the news.

The Chicago Blackhawks traded forward Nick Foligno to the Minnesota Wild on Friday, a league source said.

Foligno, 38, is in the final year of his contract with a $4.5 million cap hit. He has three goals and eight assists in 37 games this season.

Foligno had been torn about whether he wanted to finish the season with the Blackhawks or try to pursue a Stanley Cup ring, something that has eluded him in his 19-year NHL career.”

Nick Foligno was named captain of the Chicago Blackhawks on September 18th, 2024. This made him the 35th captain in franchise history, and the first since the departure of Jonathan Toews following the 2022-2023 campaign.

Foligno has 11 points in 37 games played this year.

Hearing the Minnesota Wild are working toward a potential trade for Flyers forward Bobby Brink. Wonder if they’re dangling David Jiricek or a prospect of that ilk.”

Russo confirmed that it was a done deal just a few minutes later.

He then provided a bit of insight into Brink’s game.

“Brink, who is a Minnetonka native, is a skilled winger. Smart, really good offensive instincts, can make plays, high compete and character. The Wild see him as third-line right wing who can move up in lineup if needed. Pending RFA this summer.”
