One of the top remaining free agents this summer is Jonathan Kuminga. He was coming off a season split between the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Kuminga has garnered interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Hawks are also looking into the possibility of re-signing Kuminga after declining his team option for next season and making him an unrestricted free agent.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to sign a player who can play power forward after trading away Julius Randle and Naz Reid this offseason. Jonathan Kuminga fits the bill, though he’s a bit undersized at the four.
Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic confirmed on his show that the Timberwolves are indeed interested in Kuminga. However, they are not in a position to meet the player’s salary demand.
“When someone is available, especially at a position of need, yes, the Wolves are interested in trying to get involved in the sweepstakes there,” Krawczynski said, via BasketNews. “What is going to be very difficult for them in this scenario is that they only have a minimum offer to extend to Jonathan Kuminga.”
“One of the things that has been made clear by Kuminga’s camp to anyone that is expressing interest in him is that he wants a good chunk of money. It is hard for me to see a scenario where the Wolves get involved at anything over the minimum. I just do not see any really avenues for them to get involved that way.”
Michale Scotto also reported that the Timberwolves have a $6.06 million taxpayer mid-level exception still available to use for Kuminga.
However, the player is reportedly looking for an annual salary of around $15 to 20 million per season, as per Cleveland.com.

After a long summer last year, Jonathan Kuminga signed a two-year, $48.5 million extension with the Golden State Warriors. Kuminga started in the first 12 games of the season before an injury and change in rotation forced him back to the bench just like last year.
Head coach Steve Kerr seemingly lost trust in Kuminga, who only played eight more games until his trade to the Atlanta Hawks. The Warriors acquired Kristaps Porzingis in exchange for Kuminga and Buddy Hield at the deadline.
In Atlanta, Kuminga showed flashes of his potential that made Warriors owner Joe Lacob enamored with him in 2021. He averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 16 games.
Kuminga was a bit better in the playoffs for the Hawks, averaging 13.7 points against the New York Knicks in the first round. He was one of the main reasons why the Hawks were able to take a 2-1 series lead before the Knicks caught fire en route to the championship.
