Milwaukee Brewers Unveil Bold New City Connect Jerseys

The Milwaukee Brewers are redefining what “City Connect” means. With their second-generation uniform, the club is intentionally expanding its identity beyond Milwaukee and embracing the full cultural footprint of Wisconsin. Internally dubbed “State Connect,” the new look reflects a team that draws support from small towns, lake communities, and cities across the Badger State.

This evolution is a natural progression from the Brewers’ first City Connect uniforms introduced in 2022. Those powder blue jerseys leaned heavily into Milwaukee-specific symbolism, from the subtle “414” area code embedded in the cap design to the grill logo that paid tribute to the tailgating culture outside American Family Field. While beloved, that version told a more localized story; one rooted in the city itself.

From Tailgates to Tackle Boxes

The most striking transformation comes in the reimagining of the original grill logo. In its place is a fishing bobber – a small but meaningful shift that speaks volumes about Wisconsin culture. Every detail of the new uniform has been carefully crafted to reflect Wisconsin’s natural beauty and heritage.

The base blue represents the state’s vast network of lakes and rivers, from the Milwaukee River to Lake Mendota, symbolizing constant motion and connection. Paired with it is a cream accent that evokes sandy shores, Door County beaches, and the state’s iconic sandstone bluffs.

The sunset gradient – flowing through the “Wisco” wordmark, sleeve patches, and number trims – adds a vivid, almost painterly touch. Inspired by summer evenings across the Northwoods and Lake Michigan shoreline, the color palette (including the aptly named “wild mango” lettering) gives the uniform a warm, nostalgic glow.

Typography also plays a major role in bridging past and present. The custom “Wisco” script blends early 20th-century influences from the American Association-era Brewers with nods to supper clubs and vintage brewery labels. Meanwhile, the wheat and barley braid details honor the agricultural roots and brewing traditions that define Wisconsin, and inspired the team’s very name.

Beyond aesthetics, the uniform incorporates deeper symbolic elements. The sleeve patch features a revitalized Barrelman logo paired with a full outline of Wisconsin, reinforcing the idea that Brewers fandom stretches across every county. Inside the collar, the word “Forward” (the state motto) serves as a quiet but powerful reminder of Wisconsin’s identity and the organization’s commitment to progress.

Debut Weekend and Fan Expectations

The Brewers unveiled the new uniforms during Friday’s game against the Washington Nationals at American Family Field. It was a full-scale celebration, complete with themed merchandise and multimedia storytelling featuring music from Wisconsin-native Bon Iver.

Replacing a popular uniform is never easy, especially one that resonated so strongly with fans. But early sentiment suggests optimism. The original powder blue look will be retired as a City Connect edition, though its spirit lives on in the team’s updated road uniforms.

“We were very, very pleased with the results in terms of merchandise sales and just the reaction and fan opinion about the original,” Rick Schlesinger, Brewers president of business operations, said. “Is it a hard jersey to replace and top? Sure. Everybody has their own opinions about jerseys. We were really pleased with the original version, and I think fans are going to like the new one.”
