Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald’s wife Stephanie Macdonald knows a thing or two about the NFL. Stephanie was a longtime NFL cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders.
Mike’s wife spent eight years as an NFL cheerleader, including a Pro Bowl campaign with the Ravens in 2014. Back in 2022, Stephanie opened up about life as an NFL cheerleader and seeing her husband live out his dream on the sideline.
“This is his dream job (coaching in the NFL), and cheering, that was my dream,” Stephanie said at the time during an interview with the Ravens’ official website. “Like, I always wanted to cheer in the NFL.
“I got to cheer for three different teams for eight years. It was a dream come true. You get to put on the superhero uniform and represent something bigger than yourself. I went to the Pro Bowl in 2014. It was the year that the Ravens coaches all went to the Pro Bowl.”

Stephanie’s comments took place while Mike was the Ravens defensive coordinator. Mike is now one of just 32 NFL head coaches, making the Super Bowl in his second season in Seattle. Long before Mike’s incredible run with the Seahawks this season, Stephanie knew there was something special about the Pacific Northwest.
“It’s just incredible, we’re so lucky,” Stephanie told Seahawks.com’s Ari Horton during a February 2024, interview after Mike was introduced as Seattle head coach. “Walking in and having that warm welcome, I’m like ‘Alright, this is where we’re meant to be.’”

In addition to being a former cheerleader, Stephanie is also known for being quite the singer, performing everywhere from national anthems at NFL games to her local church. Stephanie is also a proud mother as the couple welcomed their son Jack to the world on December 3, 2024, during Mike’s first season as Seahawks head coach.
Mike has gone viral for his comments about having little time with his family during the NFL season. The Seahawks coach called his wife a “rock star” during his Seahawks introductory press conference in 2024.
“My wife Stephanie is an absolute rock star,” Mike said back in 2024, per Seahawks.com. “You’ll get to know her, and this city will fall in love with her.”

Being a coach’s wife has its challenges, including multiple moves across the country. Mike was the defensive coordinator at Michigan then had the same role with the Ravens before his big move to Seattle.
“I’m lucky that he’s awesome and that I love him so much, because I don’t know if I would do this for anybody else,” Stephanie admitted during a 2022 interview with the Ravens’ website. “We were definitely under a microscope at Michigan.
“But here (with the Ravens) you have to think about he’s one of 32 (defensive coordinators), and that’s it. Especially Twitter. People, they just want to fire everyone every day.”
Stephanie may no longer be a cheerleader, but Mike’s wife still has fond memories about her time working for an NFL team.
“The friendships from those teams are just so invaluable to me,” Stephanie told Seahawks.com in 2024. “Each team had such a special place in my heart.”
