While we may disagree with how he goes about it sometimes, it’s kind of refreshing that NFL All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons has never hesitated to speak his mind.
In recent years, it’s given us one of the few, true glimpses into how things work behind the scenes with NFL superstars, and Parsons stayed true to that in a conversation with DLLS Dallas Cowboys Podcast’s Clarence Hill on Wednesday morning when asked about the end of his time with the Dallas Cowboys.
Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers shortly before the start of the 2025 season in exchange for 2 first round draft picks. That was immediately followed by the Packers making Parsons the highest paid defensive player in NFL history with a 4-year, $186 million contract extension.
In his first season with the Packers, Parsons had 12.5 sacks in 14 games before he suffered a torn ACL — “Frustrating, but maybe something God needed me to go through,” Parsons said.
Hill asked Parsons if he had any lingering ill will toward the Cowboys.
“I’m not mad or anything,” Parsons said. “Bruh … I went from one historic organization to another historic organization and I got paid a historic amount.”
To the question of whether or not he regretted how things went down with the Cowboys or if he could take any motivation from it moving forward, Parsons was more expansive.
Split Between Parsons, Jones Still Seems Painful
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has repeatedly said that he and Parsons agreed on a contract in a 1-on-1 conversation in his office in March 2025.
That the meeting occurred without Parsons’ agent, David Mughuleta, present for the negotiations seemed to be a sticking point. As it understandably might be.
Agent: Cowboys Lied About Negotiations
Mulugheta went on ESPN’s “First Take” on September 2 — less than one week after Parsons was traded — and hit back at claims by the Cowboys and Jones that Parsons reneged on their handshake deal.
“Micah got a call from Jerry’s assistant that he was being asked to come in and talk about leadership (with Jones),” Mulugheta said. “So the meeting was represented to Micah that it was going to be a talk about leadership that turned into a talk about his contract. So there’s a 25-year-old sitting in a room with his boss, the most powerful man in the NFL, who is telling him he wants to talk about his contract so he’s sitting there and nodding because what’s he supposed to do? There’s a power dynamic there that also needs to be addressed … but at no point did Micah believe he was negotiating a contract.”
