Miami Heat Announce Roster Move Before Hawks Game

On Sunday, the Miami Heat will play their final game of the 2026 regular season when they host the Atlanta Hawks in Florida.

The Heat are coming off a 140-117 win over the Washington Wizards.

Simone Fontecchio led the way with 24 points.

Before Sunday’s game, the Heat announced that they had made a roster decision.

The Miami Heat wrote (via X): “OFFICIAL: The Miami HEAT have signed two-way guard Jahmir Young to a Standard Contract.”

Young played six games for the Chicago Bulls during his rookie year.

He is in his first season playing for Miami, averaging 1.7 points per contest while shooting 37.5% from the field in 13 games.

ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote (on Friday): “The Miami Heat are signing two-way guard Jahmir Young to a new two-year deal, agent Scott Nichols tells ESPN. Young fills the Heat’s open spot created by waiving Terry Rozier.”

In the G League, Young has been having an excellent regular season.

He finished this year with averages of 26.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 47.1% from the field and 37.4% from three-point range in 25 games.

Miami This Season

The Heat are 42-39 in 81 games, which has them as the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference.

They have won four out of their last ten games (and are 25-15 at home in Miami).

Following Sunday’s game, the Heat will be in the play-in tournament.

The Heat have made the NBA Finals twice since the 2020 season (when they still had Jimmy Butler on the roster).

That said, the franchise is coming off a year where they got swept by Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs.
