Matthew Stafford’s Wife Kelly Stafford Shares Touching Video After Rams Loss

The Los Angeles Rams head into the offseason with plenty about their future unsettled, including that of quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford is coming off arguably the best season of his career. He led the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns. He is also the betting-favorite to win MVP. However, he also turns 38 in February and was non-committal about his future after the game.

His wife, Kelly Stafford, shared a telling video of the QB’s postgame activities.

Stafford, like several of his Rams teammates and even head coach Sean McVay, was noticeably frustrated after losing to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game. However, as Kelly Stafford’s post revealed, Stafford had to quickly shake that off.

“After leaving everything out on that field and coming up short, at 230 am, this was Matthew,” Kelly Stafford posted on her Instagram story on January 26, later updating the time to 2:20.

The video showed Matthew Stafford tucking his four daughters in after the difficult loss.

Kelly Stafford also shared a picture of a message, apparently written by Matthew Stafford. He thanked their children for “being such rockstars” during the season. He also credited them for being his “inspiration” en route to his third Pro Bowl and first First Team All-Pro selection.

In another slide, Kelly Stafford, who also posted a video of Stafford with the kids pregame, in which the Rams called him “Most Valuable Dad,” shared a graphic of his “MVP”-worthy stats.

There will be a lot for Matthew Stafford to mull over this offseason, and the Rams could be positioned to find his successor, but that is a far cry from saying they envision a 2026 season without the veteran under center.

All Matthew Stafford would say after the Rams’ loss was that he was not ready to deliver an answer on his future. It was too soon. However, reports earlier in the day indicated a return for the 2026 season was possible, if not likely. If that is indeed the case, the Rams will welcome him.

McVay bristled at a question about whether he expected Stafford back.

“If he still wants to play. What the hell kind of question is that?” McVay told reporters on January 25. “I know that if he wants to, he’s still playing out a pretty d*** good clip.”

McVay also touted Stafford as the “MVP,” while his top two pass-catchers–Davante Adams and Puka Nacua–also heaped praise on the former Detroit Lions star and No. 1 overall pick of the 2009 draft.

“It’s been a dream. It’s one of the best quarterbacks ever played this game and one of the coolest teammates that I’ve ever had,” Adams told reporters after the game. “I don’t know if I’ve ever played with somebody who’s a baller and just such an easy guy to function with.”

Adams said he values the time he has gotten to spend getting to know Stafford in their first season together.

Nacua, who has been with Stafford for three seasons, was equally as effusive in his praise.

“Felt like he was phenomenal,” Nacua said. “He always does a great job in being able to make plays for us. I think in the moments that we needed, he was able to read the defense and put the ball where we needed to.”
