Masters Announces News on Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy Just 48 Hours Before Start

The Masters have finally announced the long-awaited tee times for the tournament, and fans will be treated to some star-studded groups at Augusta National. No, there will not be a reunion between golf foes Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau.

At least not to start the week at Augusta National.

Golfers will begin the Masters in groups of three. McIlroy tees off on Thursday, April 9, at 10:31 a.m. alongside Cameron Young and Mason Howell.

Scheffler has been grouped with fan favorite Gary Woodland and Robert MacIntyre at 1:44 p.m. Eastern for Round 1. DeChambeau tees off at 10:07 a.m. Eastern with Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele.

Jordan Spieth may be part of the group with the most star power at the opening of the Masters. Spieth will be joined by Brooks Kopeka and Justin Rose at 1:20 p.m. Eastern.

Scottie Scheffler Will Play in the Masters After Wife Meredith Scheffler Gave Birth to New Baby, Remy

Scheffler’s status had been a bit up in the air as the golfer and wife Meredith Scheffler prepared for the birth of their second child. The 2-time Masters champion had pulled out of recent tournaments ahead of the Masters amid the pregnancy.

Scheffler revealed that the couple has welcomed new baby, Remy, to the world. Meredith and the couple’s two sons are joining the star in Augusta as Scheffler confirmed his status in the Masters.

“We had another boy a couple weeks ago,” Scottie told Golf Channel ahead of the Masters. “It’s been really nice, it’s fun. I’m really glad they were able to travel with me this week.

“My wife is a trooper and we brought the boys this week. It’s been fun.”


When Does the Masters Start on Thursday, April 9?

Fans are headed for four full days of golf at Augusta National. The Masters officially tees off at 7:40 a.m. Eastern on Thursday, April 9, with John Keefer and Haotong Li.

The final group of the first round begins at 1:56 p.m. Eastern as Harris English, Marco Penge and Si Woo Kim close out the day at Augusta National. In addition to the first round, the Masters also announced the Round 2 tee times.


Rory McIlroy Tees Off at 10:31 A.M. in Round 1 & 1:44 P.M. for Round 2

Golfers typically flip spots in tournaments allowing those who started the first round in the morning to begin the second round in the afternoon and vice versa. Spieth, Rose and Koepka tee off at 9:55 a.m. Eastern on Friday, April 10.

Scheffler, MacIntyre and Woodland tee off at 10:19 a.m. Eastern for the second round. McIlroy will continue his quest to repeat as Masters champion with a 1:44 p.m. Eastern tee time on Friday, April 10, alongside Young and Howell.

“I know defending the Masters tournament is a pretty rare feat, and it’s something I’d love to do.” McIlroy noted, per Yahoo Sports.

“I’ve won it once and I feel like that will make it a bit easier for me to win again.”
