Police investigating an SUV on its side in a creek 30 feet down an embankment in Martinez on Sunday morning found a body inside, officials said.
Firefighters, notified by the California Highway Patrol, responded to the site in the 2700 block of Franklin Canyon Road and confirmed the person in the Honda was deceased, said Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Capt. Joe Ottolini. “It turned into just an extrication,” Ottolini said.
