Man shot and critically wounded while confronting alleged thief at Loop convenience store

A man was shot and critically wounded after he confronted an apparent thief who stole from a Loop convenience store Friday night.

The shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. outside the store in the 100 block of West Adams Street when the man, 31, confronted the alleged thief, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was in critical condition, police said.


Area 4 detectives were investigating.
