Man seriously wounded in Near West Side shooting that forced lane closures on Dan Ryan

A man was seriously wounded in a shooting that forced lane closures on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Tuesday on the Near West Side.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Ruble Street where a man was shot multiple times in the body, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was in serious condition, police said. A description of the attacker was not given.

Inbound lanes on the Dan Ryan Expressway near where the shooting happened were temporarily closed and reopened around 4:40 a.m., according to Illinois state police.


Area 3 detectives were investigating.
